What Influences Streetwear Culture? - With Kareem Dalil
Who has the most influence on your style? And what do you like about how they dress?
In terms of fashion Ari Petrou is on of my biggest inspirations but when it comes to photography it's got to be Ben Maclean. About two years ago I came across both of their Youtube channels and was fascinated by the concept of taking pictures of my different outfits around London. I also was lucky enough to meet Ben Maclean while I was out taking pictures. He gave me some advice on how to shoot pictures depending on aesthetic and location. My style varies from all sorts of places depending on the type of photo I’m trying to go for. I like to mix and match my outfits and see what looks good.
What are your Hobbies, Interests and Passions?
My hobbies include drawing, photography, photo editing, and streetwear. I am an Animation university student so 2D character art is what I’m interested in. I post my character art in my highlights on Instagram.
What is your favourite genre of music?
I listen to all types of music. I don’t listen to one specific artist constantly. Sometimes it depends on my mood. I listen to artists like XXXTentacion, Lil Uzi Vert,Lil Peep,Scarlxrd,Post Malone,Travis Scott, and Ed Sheeran but as well as Soundcloud rappers and mainstream artists I also listen to rock bands such as, Hollywood Undead and Three Days Grace just to name a few, but I also like to listen to music from the early 2000s, 90s and 80s. I haven’t seen any of these artists live but I’d love to if the opportunity came up.
What is your favourite film? Do you have a favourite part?
I am a huge comic book fan so I love the Marvel and DC films. I also enjoy comedy films. I have a special place in my heart for the Star Wars franchise because I grew up watching those films. But my very favourite films have to be either The Dark Knight or The Mask.
Do you like sneakers?
I really like Vans and all the collaborations they’ve done over the years with brands such as Off White and Fear of God but my favourite shoe has to be the standard Vans Era Low-Top and Vans Slip On.
